The Upside of Your Dark Side

Posted on April 23, 2018 Written by Linda Wells

Do you ever feel stuck and unable to move? What about your money? Does it also get stuck? Did you know you have a dark side that can also affect your money?

What kinds of thoughts do you have that come from that shadow place? I’m guessing it would be something like, “money can’t buy love,” or “money is the root of all evil.” Perhaps other phrases would come to mind, around never having enough or feeling a bit jealous of those who have more. Or as a healer, you don’t deserve to charge very much, if anything at all. Success seems out of reach, okay for others but not for you. Does it seem sometimes like you are stuck in the dark night of your soul?

Shadow Side

It’s okay to have those thoughts. They represent the shadow, the dark side of you, and also of your money. It really is okay, because everything in the Universe has a light, and a dark side.

A good example of this is the Moon. Poets and composers write gazillions of homages to the brightness of the Moon in all her glory. It’s glorified as being romantic, mysterious, sacred, and mystical.

Have you ever heard a poem about the dark side of the moon? Well, maybe Pink Floyd wrote one. But usually the shadow side of the moon, the dark side, represents an eclipse of the light, throwing us into darkness. Those who navigate by the stars might be stuck in their journey, unable to travel forward until the Moon’s light returns.

How does this represent your relationship to your Self? your money? Or how you run your business? Do the clients stop showing up? Is your well of ideas dry? Maybe unexpected bills arrive to soak up that tax refund, or any extra you’ve saved up. Maybe you just feel like you can’t take action on anything. Ive been in that place several times in the past year.

When you are “stuck” in the shadows, unable to move forward in your business, to increase your money flow, to get back into a positive state of mind, how do you shift it? It might take a Herculean effort to transform the stuckness and feel forward movement again. Maybe you’re Tapping like crazy and not seeing the results you want or expect.

Or, you can consider this. You might be in a period of contemplation. A time to savor the “Be-ing” of just being you. That instead of you and your money being stuck, immersed in your shadow side, you are allowing new inspirations and ideas to come forth. Fighting against the shadow, the dark side, does not increase the speed at which you will move forward. In fact, the fighting increases the resistance.

Without the darkness, how would we recognize the light? Do not fear your negative thoughts. They are part of you. They are a part of every living being – even Vulcans.

— Lieutenant Tuvok; “Star Trek Voyager: Cold Fire Episode, 1995”

Embrace the Light Side

Embrace the Light Side

So let go, allow the flow. Note that the dark or shadow side also has a light side as well. And like the phases of the moon, it will come again.

Honor your shadow. Say “thank you.” Be grateful for this time of meditation, of contemplation. And then welcome the Light’s arrival. And Live Long and Prosper.
